Who are our volunteers?
We welcome volunteers of all ages*, experience and backgrounds. Our volunteers are compassionate, supportive, enjoy social activities, and particularly like tea and cake! Our volunteers may or may not have experience of dementia.
* The minimum age for our volunteers is 16.
What do our volunteers do?
Volunteering with the Memory Café offers a rewarding way of supporting those living with dementia in our community. Our sessions are organised and run by our volunteers, this might include; joining in with activities, perhaps a quiz or a sing-a-long; engaging in a topical conversation; helping in the kitchen; or assisting with some of the practical things at a session.

What do we offer our volunteers?
We offer a rewarding and interesting experience, and one that benefits those living with dementia as well as their carers and family.
We offer a range of free training for volunteers including; dementia awareness; safeguarding; food hygiene; health and safety; and more.
For our younger volunteers our volunteering is a brilliant experience and a great addition to your Duke of Edinburgh award or your university personal statement.
See the video below for a first hand account of volunteering with us.
